When taking care of your drums you want to put them in cases when traveling with them. You should always protect them from being messed up.If you ever drop your drums without them they will get marks and scuffs that mess up the sound of the drums. This especially goes for a new set of drums.

The next thing is to make sure the Bearing Edges are fine. This is thearea from the top to the bottom of the shell. This is where the rim rests on the drum. If they are messed up the drum will sound weird and the sound could be distorted. Before putting the rim on the drums you should see if there are any dents or areas that are messed up.

Changing the drums heads when they are worn is important because if you dont the worn drums heads wont produce good sound. If there are dents in the drum it should be changed.Another way you can tell if the drum head needs to be changed is if its sound is shallow or weak.

Most drums are covered with a colored shell. They can get dirty and should be cleaned. You would clean it with a diluted mixture of warm water and basic dish soap.Especially when you played at a club where they could be exposed to smoke or liquids splashing on them. But when cleaning them you need to use certain things because some cleaning supplies have properties that can make the design fade or discolored.

When storing the drums make sure the steel components are completely dry and away from any moisture. If they are put in an area with moisture, the rim and other parts can be destroyed. The temperature should be consistent also.

You also need to clean your cymbals with a special cream. This will prolong its newness. This cleans any dirt insde the grooves of the cymbal. If there is any dirt one the cymbal it can change the sound.
